In this age of over the top birth announcements, gender reveals and elaborate baby showers, it’s hard to stand out from the crowd. Baby showers can cost in excess of $2,000 and that’s on the cheaper side! In the advent of social media, there’s such a pressure to portray a beautiful, rich aesthetic and guests are expected to shower the soon-to-be parents with lavish gifts and trinkets. But, consider a different perspective, what makes a good gift?

    1. Celebrate the occasion holistically.
In the age of such a global world, you can buy almost anything and everything online that can be delivered to your door in an instant. This makes it easy to get essentials but also creates a lot of clutter in our lives.
Gifting a tree to celebrate a newborn is an excellent way to gift something specially without contributing to clutter.
    2. A tree is an everlasting gift.
Some trees have a lifespan beyond 3,500 years. The most common trees planted in reforestation efforts live well over 100 years of age. Even with a life span of 100 years, their benefits last well over their lifetime.
    3. You can tailor the meaning of a tree.
A tree can mean so many different things! The benefit of gifting a tree is you can create your own meaning. Maybe you want it to signify new life? Or perhaps you want it to represent a long and prosperous life full of growth. The only limit is your own imagination.
    4. It’s an easy and simple gift.
The stress of buying the ‘perfect’ gift for you friends can be overwhelming. In the age of materialism and advertising is in full swing and we are constantly being bombarded with every product imaginable! Hours upon hours can be spent trawling the markets! Why not take some of that stress out of the process by having a tree planted? It’s quick, it’s easy and you can tailor it to your liking.
    5. It’s an environmentally-conscious and healthy way to gift.
Again, harping on about the state of the world today, it’s easy to forget about the important things which are sometimes the simplest of things. The environment is one of the most important things in our lives and it’s more important now than ever! Gifting a tree not only has a higher meaning in metaphorical terms, it’s also incredibly important in a literal sense for the environment.
    6. It grows with the baby.
You can have the tree planted in the same year the baby is born and then, through the new child’s life, they will have this tree growing with them! And think about what an adventure it would be to go on a hike and visit the tree you’ve planted in 10 years, 20 years or just any year to celebrate!

Instead of running around the store, flitting this way and that, in search of the “perfect” gift that will encapsulate everything you want it to, consider a simpler and easier solution: Gift a grove of trees to honor the soon-to-be newborn.
